Since 1 January 1993, the European single market has guaranteed the free movement of goods, services, capital and persons. This benefits, among others, small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany. Nevertheless, differences still exist between companies in Europe.
The middle class in Germany is diverse: crafts enterprises, service providers, freelancers, industrial companies and large family businesses are just as much a part of it as solo self-employed or tech start-ups.
