This study investigates the handling of established small and medium-sized companies with increasingly emerging disruptive developments. The majority evaluates its own business model as well prepared for the future. However, the own business model is only critically questioned if problems are already no-ticeable. Most companies are observing new technologies and business models. Their relevance is, however, judged (especially in the production sector) as low. The potential, but also the risks of the new technologies and business models for the own company, are rarely recognized. Only a few companies have taken specific activities or developed a strategy to deal with disruptive developments as a result of increasing digitalization.
