History can serve as a particularly important guide for understanding entrepreneurship in moments of change. Based on articles for the special issue "Historical Approaches to Entrepreneurship Research", the authors present in their introduction chapter the different forms of historical thinking and research on entrepreneurship. In addition, they use the articles to develop a framework for understanding how the historical context and time shape entrepreneurial opportunities, actions and processes of change.
